PRODUCT STRATEGY

From idea to MVP: what to build first

A practical way to identify the smallest version of your product that can deliver real value.

A practical way to identify the smallest version of your product that can deliver real value.

Start with the problem

Before choosing screens or features, describe the problem in plain language. Who has it? How often does it occur? What changes if it is solved well?

Choose one primary audience

A product built for everyone is hard to validate. Pick the group most likely to benefit and define a realistic task they need to complete.

Map the core journey

Sketch the essential steps from first visit to the meaningful outcome. Remove anything that does not help that journey happen.

Separate must-haves from later ideas

A useful MVP is not a low-quality full product. It is one complete experience with a deliberate boundary around the scope.

Prototype your riskiest assumption

Use quick wireframes, interaction demos or a lightweight technical experiment to learn where uncertainty is highest.

Define what success looks like

Choose signals you can observe, such as task completion, activation or qualitative customer feedback, before beginning development.
